38 Caliber Hero - Promo Band Session

38 Caliber Hero is a local Houston Band.  They are relatively new to the scene and classify themselves as Progressive Rock/Pop Punk.  I met Daniel (or Woody as I like to call him by his last name) last year when we worked together for a short time.  He hit me up a few months ago to take band photos for his group.  So I got to work with these guys and let me tell you they are pretty funny and entertaining.  I got some goofy shots of them, but the images I have displayed show their serious side.  The location for these shots was at The Drake.

When I had this drawing in mind I did not know how difficult it would be to decide who should win.  I asked that each mama tell me why she deserved to win, and I can honestly say all who participated deserve it.  However there can only be one.  So I decided to put the names in a bag and draw a lucky name.

I am really excited about this drawing!  Maybe it's because I am expecting my first baby.  My current obsession is photographing pregnant bellies.  The miracle of life is amazing and so is the process, which is why I believe it should be documented.  Belly photos are small treasures for you, your family, and your baby.

Photo Contest Theme: Self-portrait

I have been wanting to do a photo contest ever since I started blogging.  I love photography and I love sharing my photo creations, so I decided this is the perfect time to start a photo contest series (that is, it may be one of many contests that I post depending on the response I get this time around) and have you share your photos with me.  So please participate!!!!  It will be fun and best of all the winner will get a free mini photo session from me - don't all jump out of your chairs yet, you have to read the guidelines first.

Ashley: Midtown Model

Everyone meet Ashley.  She is absolutely gorgeous.

These are just a select few of her that I love.

I was invited out with a group of photographers to have some fun and discover locations in midtown Houston.  I had a blast and got to meet new people.  There was so much around us to photograph and it was a great time to experiment with camera settings and lighting.  We had about 2 hours of daylight to search out hot spots and take turns with our model.  I really enjoyed seeing my fellow photogs at work with their mad skills.  I hope to do it again soon.  Many thanks to Amber for letting me tag along.

365 days - February

These were some of my more experimental shots.

A lot has happened since the last 365 day post, but I finally managed to get my favs from February picked out.  I've included pix from my road trip from Nevada through Arizona and on to Texas.  It was meant to be a sort of bonding trip with my brother and dad (as well as the relocation of my bro - the actual purpose for the organization of this trip).  I saw really amazing scenery and the rapid weather changes from the cool Las Vegas air to the colorful ever-changing sky crossing into AZ.   From the hot sun beating down on the reddish mountains to the cold blue snow filling the trees.  

I doubt I'll drive that with them again - little sleep, crammed backseat of a '98 Tacoma, high levels of testosterone.  I think you get me.

The one with the 4 guys spread apart and looking across like that was totally natural and not posed.  That's why it's in my favs.  Such a classic moment for me to steal that shot without them noticing me with my camera in hand.

Sarai & Rolando

This was a fun photo shoot.  They came all the way from Utah to meet family and get hitched this weekend.  Sarai is my cuñada and moved to Utah for school.  That's where she met Rolando.   And he's never been to Houston, so when contemplating the location for photographs he chose to be near the water.  I didn't get too many water shots in here, but these are my top 10.  I just might add more later.

I can't wait to photograph the wedding this weekend!  I know the couple is going to dazzle.  Stay tuned, you don't want to miss those photos.
